“It’s Saint Paddy’s Day. Everyone’s Irish tonight.” (The Boondock Saints)

It’s Saint Paddy’s Day everyone! And ya know what that means this post is gonna be about… The Boondock Saints. I’m sorry but it had to happen. There was nothing else it could be. I absolutely love The Boondock Saints. Best part, I got Kaitlyn into them.

For those of you who don’t know what this is, and if you don’t then I suggest you stop reading and go watch it, like right now, it’s a film about two twin Irish Catholic brothers who get a calling from God to cleanse their city of the evil that has taken over. Connor (Sean Patrick Flannery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) MacManus exact vigilantly justice on the gangsters of Boston.

The first film came out in 1999. Now, this film is rated R and it has lots of blood, language, brief nudity, and mild sexual content. Now, based on the rating alone it sounds like a terrible film to some of you, but it’s not I swear. It is a fantastic film. Like you have to see it. Actually, you have to see them both.

It’s funny, action-packed, has a great plot, and the characters are phenomenal. Besides Connor and Murphy, you have their best friend Rocco, Doc, Il Duce, FBI Agent Smecker, Detectives Dolly, Duffy, and Greenly. The brothers are so funny together and they are a well-oiled killing machine. Their faith plays a major role and is the basis for the whole film.

The boys have a small Mother Mary tattoo on the side of their necks. They also have a Celtic cross tattooed on their forearms and Connor has Veritas (truth) tattooed on his left hand and Murphy has Aequitas (justice) tattooed on his right hand. In the second film the get Jesus on the cross tattooed on their backs.

Now, I don’t want to give the plot away because I really, really, really want you to watch it. This is more or less me telling you how much I love it and why you should watch it. You’ve got Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery, William Defoe, and Billy Connolly. I love this cast. I love this cast, I love this plot, I love these films.

In the films the boys have a family prayer that they say before they kill each gangster. “And shepherds we shall be, For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee. And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti.” Now, this prayer will give you chills when they say it. Oh man, so cool.

Now, these are fine looking men and as actors they are wonderful people, and in the films their characters have such amazing personalities. And in the second film they look just as good.

I mean come on! Look at these faces! They are gorgeous men. (I’m gonna fangirl here.) Norman is my favourite (Murphy) and I have seen a lot of his stuff. Blade II, The Walking Dead, Pawn Shop Chronicles, Pandorum, Cadillac Records, Red Canyon, American Gangster, and Charmed. Now, I love Sean too but I love Norman the best. So first you give me these gorgeous men and then, and then, they have IRISH ACCENTS IN THIS FILM! I’ve got a thing for accents, I really do. So Needless to say I was happy.

Now, in the first film the film starts off on… Saint Patty’s Day. And it’s great. The intro song is called The Blood of Cuchulainn, and guys it’s great. You can’t help but feel happy and want to dance when you hear it. They play it in the second film too which is great.

Also, the director of the film, Troy Duffy, is in a band called The Boondock Saints. There’s another song in both films called Holy Film and is actually sung by the group. Duffy’s wife actually did the tattoos on the boy’s backs. The two are just really cool and amazing.

So, I’m gonna stop now cos I could go on and on about this and I really don’t want to spoil it for you. For Saint Paddy’s Day Kaitlyn and I (Kendall) are gonna watch The Boondock Saints, because that’s what we geeks do on Saint Paddy’s Day. So enjoy today ya guys! Have fun today and stay safe.
